The State Road campus is made up of five different buildings that students move among during their academic day. In the middle of the campus is a playground with lots of swings and and basketball court. The recent addition of a Gaga Pit makes for a great place to have some fun and burn off energy! Adjacent to the playground is our soccer/lacrosse field and the large animal extension of the AGCS MicroFarm.

Interactions with nature and green space have lasting impacts on learning. The Nature Trail was the first component of the ELC outdoor classroom. It provides a huge opportunity for kids to really understand nature and the outdoors and have it be part of their everyday classroom experience. It connects students, teachers, and the community to the natural resources in our own backyard.

Students work in small groups so teachers can address similar instructional levels and implement reading strategies that build reading independence. Through creative writing, students learn to incorporate the traits in a variety of types of writing beginning in 1st grade. As AGCS is a school with 1:1 technology, we integrate technology into classrooms from the very beginning in all content areas.

The courtyard is an extension of our outdoor classroom and the future site of our sensory garden. Teachers will use the garden to hold lessons, such as the growth cycle of the plants in the garden beds. Students plant seeds in pots in the classroom in spring, transplant seeds to the gardens at the end of the school year and then harvest the fruits and vegetables when the following school year begins. When paired with mindfulness techniques, a school sensory garden can also contribute to students’ emotional health. We understand the power of nature helping students relax as well as learn.

Every day we offer our students a wide variety of healthy, tasty lunch items that kids love to eat. Complete lunches are prepared fresh daily and include five components: meat/meat alternate, grain, fruit, vegetable, and milk. Our AGCS lunch ladies are second to none! The State Road Dance Studio is a unique space that provides an area for students to express themselves through creative movement, multi-disciplinary dance classes, and the school's competitive Dance Company. The ultimate goal of our Upper School program is to prepare our students for their individualized college and career goals. Students develop their own post-secondary goals that align with the school's rigorous curriculum to prepare them for their own, unique future. Overlooking the Collaboratory is the Wolf's Brew Cafe and School Store. The Cafe is open to Junior and Senior students and they can get food, snacks, coffee, or smoothies throughout the day to help fuel learning. Here, students can hold lunch meetings or find a spot to catch up on homework. The Wolf's Brew Cafe also offers an educational opportunity for those interested in the hospitality and food service industry, providing hands-on learning in an operating cafe.

Our middle school teachers promote deep, critical thinking, problem solving, and project based learning through a challenging curriculum and foster social emotional skills in order to help them reach their potential.

Unique in Chester County, our playground includes a bike path where students are able to regularly ride bikes during recess. Students are taught how to ride a bike as well as use the bike path to enjoy their bike riding passion at school. It also includes a butterfly garden which increases student engagement and curiosity in the classroom. It's an interactive classroom for our students to be engaged in the natural world. It is a tool to incorporate hands-on activities for every subject!

The State Road Campus actually has three different music rooms to support our students. Students can partake in a wide variety of musical opportunities, including music appreciation, theory and composition, music technology, audio engineering, band and orchestra, and instrumental lessons. We are quite proud of our award-winning Jazz Band and Choir!

An extension of our Microfarm houses our large animals and apiary. The apiary provides an amazing annual opportunity for students to participate in a honey harvest, jarring, label graphic design, and marketing. The collaborative, interdisciplinary projects are endless with our AGCS Microfarm.

The Fine Arts program at AGCS includes drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and graphic design, as well as theater arts classes. Creative expression is imperative for 21st century learners and an integral part of our core program for grades K-12. Our highly skilled staff encourage students to take risks through different art media.

The farm is a truly unique learning environment, where students can explore a wide array of disciplines including structural engineering, art, ecology, design, commerce, agriculture, journalism, photography, and humanitarian aid.
